Why I Decided to Start a Blog and Newsletter
Since last year, I've been considering launching a blog, creating a YouTube channel, or posting on various platforms to share knowledge, explore my interests, and help people gain a deeper understanding of system design, coding, and software architecture.
I always felt I don't have the time to do it. After work, I was always either exhausted or starving. 😃
Recently, I resigned from my company. During my notice period, my days were filled with numerous handover meetings and knowledge transfer sessions. Since I worked on various projects and faced many challenges, these sessions were detailed. We discussed software architecture, the domains and technologies used in our projects, and system design. Often, our conversations went beyond just handovers, delving deeply into software engineering.
These calls reminded me of past conversations with colleagues and friends about how systems could be designed for specific fields, the pros and cons of different software approaches, and the proper use of design patterns and software principles. We even discussed how major platforms like Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and Netflix design their systems, manage massive traffic, and the architecture and technologies they use, among many other questions...
I realize how much I love and enjoy sharing my knowledge and learning more through these technical conversations.
After all the meetings, despite feeling exhausted, I also felt refreshed and happy. So, I started researching how to create a blog. My initial plan was to code my own blog or find an open-source solution to modify based on my needs. Overall, it seemed like it was not worth going through all these steps. So, I started looking for a solution that was easy to configure, flexible to customize, fast to learn, and could be set up in a couple of hours. I researched products to see which platform was the market leader, what features they offered, how responsive their support team was, and so on. Eventually, I found a video on YouTube (you can click here to watch the video).
I was like, "Damn, I found the product that I need."
The product is beehiiv, and you are reading this post on their platform. It offers a user-friendly interface, is fully customizable, SEO-optimized, provides advanced analytics, supports custom domains, and more. (To check all the features, click here.)
So, here I am, with my first post.
We'll discuss many topics in the future. If there's a specific topic you'd like me to cover, please drop a comment below this post.
